MEMORANDUM

TO: [Fire department or district] Administration / Operations Chief
FROM: Gabriel Duus, Founder, Duus Innovations
DATE: [Date]
SUBJECT: Proposal for Dynamic Shield Pilot Evaluation
RECOMMENDED BY: [Your name, rank, and assignment]

1. PURPOSE

The purpose of this proposal is to request a no-cost pilot evaluation of the Dynamic Shield on front-line apparatus. The Dynamic Shield is intended as a barrier between a patient and an extrication work area. It provides moldable hard protection in a compact, durable format designed by firefighters for use during vehicle extrications and similar high-risk incidents.

2. BACKGROUND AND INTENDED USE

During vehicle extrications, patients are frequently positioned near areas where glass, sharp metal, and tools are being used. The Dynamic Shield is designed to be placed between the patient and the work area to help limit direct contact with those hazards while crews continue extrication work.

By providing a physical barrier that can be quickly positioned and adjusted, the shield may reduce the need for additional personnel to manually hold protective materials in place. This can free responders to focus on patient care or other tasks on scene. These are operational observations based on design intent. Performance will be evaluated during the requested pilot.

3. EQUIPMENT SPECIFICATIONS

The Dynamic Shield consists of moldable hard protection contained in an RF-welded, tear- and spark-resistant durable canvas outer shell. It includes high-visibility striping and industrial-strength handles for single-person deployment.

Intended application: Barrier between patient and extrication work area
Materials: Moldable hard core in RF-welded tear- and spark-resistant canvas; high-visibility striping
Shape retention: Moldable core holds position once formed to the scene
Handles: Industrial-strength handles (weight capacity details provided with evaluation units)
Sizes: Standard size available; custom sizes can be produced
Cleaning: Wipe clean with mild soap and water; follow department decontamination protocols
Service life: Designed for daily apparatus use (specific service life data available upon request)
Tested against: Glass and sharp edges (detailed test results provided with evaluation units)
Thermal protection: Not rated for thermal or heat protection. Not intended as a fire barrier.

Limitations: The Dynamic Shield is not a ballistic product and provides no thermal protection. It is intended solely as a physical barrier for extrication and similar work areas.

4. PILOT PROPOSAL

Duus Innovations requests the opportunity to provide evaluation units at no cost for a pilot period. The goal is to allow crews to use the product in real conditions, identify any needed improvements, and determine whether it provides practical value before any purchase discussion.

For the pilot, two units per participating apparatus are proposed so that a shield is available from either side of a vehicle during extrication. Training on proper placement and use will be provided at no additional cost as part of the pilot.

Warranty terms for any future purchased units will be provided prior to any procurement decision. Evaluation units are offered for testing only.

5. FINANCIAL ESTIMATE (POST-PILOT)

Should the department choose to move forward after the pilot, estimated pricing is as follows. These figures are for planning purposes only and are not a purchase request at this time.

Minimum coverage per apparatus: 2 units, estimated $500
Full front-line coverage: 10 units, estimated $2,500
Department-wide implementation: custom quote

Pilot units are offered at no cost. The figures above apply only if the department elects to purchase after evaluation. Public pre-order price on duusinnovates.com is $300 per unit until a department quote is issued.
